A guinea pig is perfect for photography as they don’t move much and this one seems to really like the camera.

This is a more regal pose for Olivia and would make a nice oil painting for her guinea pig castle!

 In Your Own Home

Having photos taken in your own home can give you not only great shots but also highly personal ones. Because the photos are in your home they are a memory of where you live as well as you and your family. Having photos taken in your own home can also help you feel more relaxed than having to go to a shopping centre or a photographers studio.

I have actually customised my own service to provide Central Coast photography services directly to people at home. This is because of the number of people I meet that want to be able to just make an appointment and have a relaxing photo shoot at home. Most people choose their lounge room as it is a relaxing place and you can even distract the kids with the television so they enjoy the photography too!

In Your Backyard

If you want to still stay at home but want something more natural than a few photos in the backyard work well. You can use trees and flowers as backdrops for some breathtaking shots. If you have a lovely green lawn you can use this as a strong background with you and your family sitting on the ground.

By the Water

Water always makes for some amazing shots especially in the morning or evening because of the sunset and sunrise as well as reflections off the surface of the water. Any water background is going to be dramatic and it is especially nice for romantic shots for a boyfriend and girlfriend or husband and wife.

Green Areas

If your backyard is a bit small or uninspiring then head out to one of your local parks, nature reserves or even the national park! This will allow for a greater variety of plants to use as backdrops and can even allow for some breathtaking views if you find a lookout somewhere near you.

If you are taking your own photographs be sure to experiment with locations as much as you can. You are sure to find your own favourite type of location, my personal favourite has always been water! I have, however, been on the Central Coast photographing various beaches before and have always enjoyed coming here. Now it is a great pleasure to be moving my business somewhere that provides some great potential backdrops for portrait photography. Ettalong beach is a great place for some photography but it is also great for families as there are no waves making it a pretty and safe beach. There is a lot in the area for a great weekend away or just for relaxing and having a bite to eat. In fact, Ettalong is a very popular tourist destination outside of Sydney.

Brisbane Waters near Woy Woy on the Central Coast and extending up into Gosford is a very diverse area filled with wildlife and boating activities. It is an amazingly beautiful place with lots of ducks, fish and even stingrays (have spotted a couple already!). This is an area I love to photograph here on the Central Coast and I hope you enjoy my photos.

The main things you need to work out are:

• Clothing
• Hair
• Makeup
• Rest

Choosing the Right Clothing

You may just want to choose your favourite clothing for your Central Coast photography session but the best photos will need certain clothes. Try to avoid anything with too many patterns or too much colour. Single colours look best in photos and it doesn’t matter if they are ‘bright’ or even pastels, but just within a certain set of colours. You will also need to think about what kind of theme or feel you want from your photos.

If you are after a casual, beautiful set of photos then soft flowing and loose fitting clothes can be best. When you are having your photos taken you want to comfortable but also look good. If you want something more dressed up, then studio lighting can be a lot more fun and offer a controlled environment. Also, if you want to take photos with your partner make sure you are not clashing with each other.

 Hair

If you are having an outdoor photography session with us then you can just do your hair as you usually would in a relaxed, good looking, way. You also have the option to organise a fresh haircut or hairstyling just before or on the day of your photography session on the Central Coast. Do not be too worried about stray hairs or a bit of mess as you will be amazed at what a little Photoshop can do!

Makeup

Makeup is not always necessary because of retouching that can be done with digital photos. It is best to use a basic concealer and have a bit of fun if you want to with brighter coloured makeup. Again, if you are having an outdoor photo shoot or some more relaxing shots done make sure your make up is as minimal as possible. You could also organise to have your makeup done before the photo shoot from a professional makeup artist.

Rest

The most important thing is to stay relaxed and get a good rest the night before. Photo shoots will usually last between half an hour to an hour. While this won’t be strenuous (fun actually!) it is a good idea to be nice and relaxed. We look forward to having a photography session with you on the Central Coast soon.

Since I will soon be taking new bookings for photo shoots here on the Central Coast I have updated and expanded my online photography portfolio. I am based in Woy Woy now so you can either come to have photos taken here in a home setting (very relaxed) or I can travel to you. Keep in mind that my prices are very affordable so unfortunately do not include hair and make up.
